Chak De INDIA - Pathetic Story of Indian Sports

Cricket. Cricket. Cricket. The 1 billion people of this nation is damn crazy about this Sport. They treat this Sport as their RELIGION. Crossing all the barriers of caste & creed, the people of this nation come together to cheer for whom they consider, "THE GODS OF CRICKET". No matter what the age is - children of age 6 to the oldies of 60 - everyone is mad about this game. (I wont exclude myself from that list too). But dont u think this game of high spirits has ruined the reputation of other sports in this country. Hockey being our national sport, is not given the standard that it deserves. Hardly very few people know who is the current Captain of the Indian Hockey Team (Even I dont know, to be frank). But when it comes to cricket, everyone keeps track of even the minutest record of this game. When Indian Team doesnt do well in any Sport, we dont give a damn to watch it next time. But if its Cricket, people watch time & again, even though their performance in the previous match was worser than it could be. In some matches, the fool spectators hold their breath till the last ball, even though they know INDIA is gonna lose it. Why such preferences when it comes to watching a game???? I strongly feel that every Game has its own essence, its own value. Each sport should be watched & played with a spirit of competition (the healthy one), a spirit of fun, & most importantly, with a spirit to enjoy each & every moment of it. Coz I feel, afteral ITS ALL IN THE GAME!! So People, Are You Ready to GAME?? If yes, then JUS GO FOR IT - as its said in Punjabi, CHAK DE PHATTE!!!
